Child Initiated Learning
Evaluation and Development

 

This course will enable delegates to consider ways of developing and enhancing the child initiated learning taking place in their settings. They will be given the opportunity to collate a portfolio of children’s work to aid moderation, consider the role of the adult, and use of observation. The training will take place at Greenfield Primary School who have been piloting this way of working for the past two years. 

This course will enable delegates to learn about the principles as well as practice providing time for each practitioner to take part in a child initiated session with the year group of their choice. Each delegate will be provided with a copy of materials on CD for use within their own setting.

Headteachers, Foundation Stage Co-ordinators, Nursery, Reception and Key Stage one and two Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Nursery Nurses.

Aims

To provide delegates with systems and support materials to enable them to develop and nurture children’s independence and thinking skills in from nursery through to year six through child initiated learning.

  • Scaffolding strategies for supporting children’s independence and problem-solving;

  • Involving children in the development of reflective practice;

  • Moderation – Creating a portfolio of work;
