1 Day Course - 9:30 to 15:30

The use of the outdoor environment as an extension of the classroom continues to be an issue that concerns many early years practitioners. The aim of this full day course is to take a completely bare area of tarmac at the venue and with the use of practical and inexpensive materials build, by the end of the day, an effective and high quality learning environment that supports all six areas of the curriculum. This course is designed to support all practitioners what ever their stage of development and what ever the size of the outdoor area.

• Ways in which the six areas of the curriculum can be developed and supported out of doors.

• Resources that support all six areas of the curriculum and extend the opportunities on offer inside.

• Ways of encouraging independence, thinking skills and creativity.

• Organising and making a range of role play boxes.

• Key features for consideration when tackling the development of an outdoor area.

• Building the area

• Surveying the space available and the development of a plan.

• Putting our plans into action, equipping and utilising the space.

• Ways of planning for and using the space to support different ability groups and different areas of the curriculum.
