in the Foundation Stage

Course Duration

1 Day Course - 9:30 to 15:30

Aims

This course is based upon a planning, assessment and profiling system intended for use in all settings accommodating children in the Foundation Stage. It will enable schools to formulate effective long term plans identifying coverage, map out medium term mini-topics and starting points and build short term plans that match the needs of individual settings. The system is built around a detailed scheme of work that will enable schools to plan clearly differentiated opportunities and activities for up to 4 groups. The system enables staff to add assessments and observations. It is then possible to identify the next steps and targets for individuals, groups and cohorts in not only all six areas of the curriculum but also within each of the early learning goals therein. Thus enabling schools to track the progress and development of individuals, groups and cohorts from their first term in the Foundation Stage through to the end of their Reception year. This information can then be used to compile the National Foundation Stage Profile. Work is already in progress to produce a system for Key Stage one that dovetails into the Foundation Stage package.
