The Outdoor Classroom
Supporting the Foundation Stage Curriculum Out of Doors

The use of the outdoor environment as an extension of the classroom continues to be an issue that concerns many early years practitioners. At Corfield Educational Consultants we understand this and have been actively involved with Schools and Nurseries, and the North West Shropshire EAZ in developing ways to support the Foundation Stage Curriculum Out of Doors. Using practical inexpensive resources you can create an effective high quality learning environment. We also understand that security is often an issue and advocate resources that are either highly portable or easy to secure outside.

Corfield Educational Consultants also provide schools and nurseries with drawings showing ideas for making good use of their environment. We have produced such drawings for settings in Telford and Wrekin, Dudley, Shropshire and Northumberland including ideas for recreational space at a new Secondary school in Dudley.

With the North West Shropshire EAZ we worked on a number of projects from 2003 through to the end of the zone in March 2005. The projects looked at the environments at very different schools from the largest infant school in Shropshire to a small three teacher village school, we worked with the schools to identify their needs and with the help of local businesses produced stimulating, quality, permanent structures and facilities for use out of doors.
