Genie II allows real-time LAMP to be performed on a low power portable platform, suitable for use in the field. The closed tube used in Genie II avoids any post-amplification handling thereby eliminating laboratory contamination from the amplified product.

The Genie II system includes two independent heating blocks, each taking up to eight 0.2 ml microtubes. The instrument allows a temperature gradient to be established along each block for optimisation of the LAMP reaction temperature.

OptiGene has developed a rapid isothermal amplification reagent using a novel Geobacillus sp. large fragment DNA polymerase. This allows results to be obtained in less than 20 minutes. We have also developed a fast Reverse Transcription kit, which enables combined RT & amplification reducing assay time well below 1 hour.
